I Rode the Tailboard was created from my experiences doing just that, riding the tailboard on a fire engine. Although firefighters no longer do this for valid safety reasons, it was an experience to be placed on that "incredible" list. I have always loved the feeling one gets riding a motorcycle, the wind in your face, seeing and feeling the elements. Well, riding the tailboard to a fire is that and so much more. As those who have done it know, as you approach that fire scene you can see the glow in the air, then you smell the fire, and it all becomes very real in a matter of minutes. A firefighter can't get that experience in a closed cab rig!
